Charlie Minato

editor, halfwheel.com. publisher, tenemu.com
I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I handle the editing of our written content, the majority of the technical aspects of the site and work with the rest of our staff on content management, business development and more. I’ve lived in most corners of the country and now entering my second stint in Dallas, Texas. I enjoy boxing, headphones, the Le Mans 24-hour, wearing sweatshirts year-round and gyros. echte liebe.

Brooks Whittington

editor, halfwheel.com + editor, Tenemu.com.
I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.

Patrick Lagreid

News Editor, halfwheel.com
I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the Spring Training public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies; a stats stringer for MLB.com, PA announcer for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, voice talent and writer, among other things. I also cover the Phoenix cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was previously an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.

Brian Burt

writer, halfwheel.com + writer, Tenemu.com
I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010 I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion. Besides my cigar hobby and job in the IT industry, my wife and I love traveling, trying new restaurants and relaxing at home with our two dogs.

Taylor Abbey

writer, Tenemu.com

I am a writer at Tenemu and routinely get to sample and review some of the best IPAs, sours, porters, and barleywines the world has to offer. My interest in craft beer was transformed after a trip to Russian River Brewing exposed me to the world of sour ales and I’ve enjoyed seeking out unique and interesting beers ever since. I have a background in wedding and portrait photography and my wife and I love to travel, eat amazing food and relax at home with our two dogs.

Erik Perkins

Erik Perkins

writer, Tenemu.com.
As a self-proclaimed beer nerd, home brewer and writer for tenemu it is safe to say that I am obsessed with all things craft beer. I focus on reviewing mainly sours and barley wines for tenemu but generally enjoy most styles of beer. I am an active trader that is always looking for new beers to try as well as a member of the Bruery Reserve Society. A few years ago I dove head first into home brewing and it has become one my favorite ways to spend a Saturday afternoon. My main focus in home brewing has been brettanomyces fermentation and the world of flavors that can be produced from wild yeast. In my time spent away from the beer world I am a professional photographer specializing in portraits and concert photography.

Jason Moore

writer, Tenemu.com

I have come a long way since drinking Coors Light with my friends back in college. I started getting interested in craft beer around five years ago when a buddy introduced me to some brews that I thought were outrageously expensive. Now that the majority of my paychecks go towards booze, I get it; and it didn’t take long for my fridge to transform from a shrine of silver cans, to one stuffed with some of the best beers on the planet. After a few years drinking everything I could get at local bottle shops I got turned on to beer trading. After that, it was over, I was 100 percent hooked on the hobby and have had the pleasure of enjoying amazing beers from all over the world. I, like most beer knerds, gravitate towards stouts, sours and anything they will stick in a barrel, but will mostly be talking to you guys about fruit beers, goses and porters. I’m a full-time realtor, so when I’m not day-drinking for “educational purposes” for Tenemu, I am probably driving around the Dallas-Fort Worth area trying to sell houses.
